I saw three Ships ist seit dem 17. Jahrhundert bekannt. Es gibt zahlreiche Versionen, wer auf den drei Schiffen reist: Die Schädel der Heiligen Drei Könige bzw. die Weisen aus dem Morgenland, die nach Köln gebracht werden, oder Maria und Jesus, die nach Bethlehem reisen.
